  • Art Direction, Design A-Z, & Muse Magazine

When I was just out of school, I had the opportunity to design the logo for Musefest, an annual music festival that celebrates Ithaca NY local talent. Since the beginning of the Musefest, Visionmaker has been creating hundreds of posters and other promotional materials in order to raise awareness about the event.

Along with the festival, Musefest, Inc. also publishes a yearly music magazine called Muse Magazine. Visionmaker has managed the entire artistic end of the magazine project for the last two years, which required exceptional time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once, being able to provide art direction and coaching to illustrators and designers, as well as strong design and offset pre-press skills.

For the 2006 issue, I managed teams of volunteer designers who worked from their own homes creating dozens of different ads for advertisers. I designed and edited hundreds of ads using Illustrator, Quark, Photoshop, and Freehand when necessary. Afterwards, I produced the 80-page magazine layout in Quark, resolved font issues, color and image problems, and delivered final files and proofs to offset printer.

Against all odds, I met the deadline! I spent sleepless nights, working against the clock, and even though all pointed toward failure, I kept going anyway, and the magazine came out on June 1st, of 2006, as promised. Twenty thousand copies were printed and distributed in the summer of 2006.

Along with creating many other promotional materials like: posters, flyers, post-cards, and newsprint ads, Visionmaker designed the current layout for the Musefest website.
